Image Presentation
Please check the club communication "Shuttertalk" to make sure of your advancement level before entering digital, print or slide images on club night. If you need confirmation please phone the Pam who is responsible for scoring - all committee member's numbers are on the last page of Shuttertalk.
Slide Mounting
- Digital images can be e-mailed to Jenny not later than the Monday before club night, failing which members can bring there images on the Wednesday night either on a CD-RW disk or flash drive, both of which must have been formatted and only your images for the night may be loaded on these devices. The reason for this is that we have experienced some computer viruses which we suspect may have come from infected removable media, as the club projector is not connected to the internet.
- Slides at club meetings, are required to be mounted in glass - this is mandatory.
This is done firstly, to protect the slide, and secondly, to avoid the projectionist having to refocus constantly as a result of the slide 'popping' in and out of focus due to the heat generated by the projector's light bulb.
Thirdly, mounting this way obviates dust clinging to the slide surface as a result of static electricity. - Please see that mounts and slides are free from 'dirt'. Clean the glass mounts with a lint-free cloth, anti-static cleaner or soft art paint brush. Clean slides with an air-blower.
- Be careful not to leave any finger marks on the slide.
- Seal the slides securely all around the perimeter.
Spotting and Titles
- When the slide is mounted with right side up turn the slide upside down.
- Stick a red spot at the top right hand corner.
- Place the title label on the same level with the category at the bottom (3 star members and upwards).
- At the back of the slide put your name and postal address (for salon entries).
Note!:
Read the specific page in "Shuttertalk" for 'Entries for Club Nights' for an example of how a slide should be marked, an example of which can also be found on the Slide Section page of this website.
Self-adhesive red spots and labels are available at stationery stores.
Please ask a committee member or other experienced members for assistance or advice on mounting and / or 'masking' sides.
Print Mounting
- Choose a mount that suits the size of the print - allow for a reasonable border, about 50mm all round.
- Colour is important - where possible keep away from White, rather use Grey as it is a neutral colour and will not distract from your image.
- At the back of the print (this is mandatory):
- Add your name, title of image and category (3 star and higher)
- Mark image with an arrow to show the right-side up
Example 1:
A Windy Day
Jack Hill - 1 star
Example 2:
Elephants - Zoological
Mary Lamb - 3 star
Note! - On Club Night:
Write the matching sequence number from the score sheet next to the title - this will assist the print co-ordinator to keep all the prints in order when displaying to the judges.
Example 3:
No.5 Elephants - Zoological
Mary Lamb - 3 star
Note:
If in doubt, please ask for assistance or advice on mounting.
Please write clearly on slides, prints AND score sheets.
