Guidelines for Mounting Images

Please check the newsletter "Shuttertalk" to make sure of your advancement level before entering slides and / or prints on club night.  If you need confirmation please phone the committee member responsible for scores - all committee member's numbers are on the last page of Shuttertalk.

Slide Mounting
  • Slides at club meetings, are required to be mounted in glass - this is mandatory.
This is done firstly, to protect the slide, and secondly, to avoid the projectionist having to refocus constantly as a result of the slide 'popping' in and out of focus due to the heat generated by the projector's light bulb.
Thirdly, mounting this way obviates the dust clinging to the slide surface as a result of static electricity.
  • Please see that mounts and slides are free from 'dirt'.  Clean the glass mounts with a lint-free cloth, anti-static cleaner or soft art paint brush.  Clean slides with an air-blower.
  • Be careful not to leave any finger marks on the slide.
  • Seal the slides securely all around the perimeter.
Spotting and Titles
  • When the slide is mounted with right side up turn the slide upside down.
  • Stick a red spot at the top right hand corner.
  • Place the title label on the same level with the category at the bottom (3 stars and upwards).
  • At the back of the slide put your name and postal address (for salon entries).
Note:

See page in the newsletter "Shuttertalk" for 'Entries for Club Nights' for an example of how a slide should be marked, an example of which can also be found on the "Slides", link menu.
Self-adhesive red spots and labels are available at stationery stores.
Please ask for assistance or advice on mounting and / or 'masking' sides.

Print Mounting
  • Choose a mount that suits the size of the print - allow for a reasonable border.
  • Colour is important - where possible keep away from White, rather use Grey.
  • At back of print (this is mandatory):
  • Add your name, title of image and category (3 stars and higher)
  • Mark image with an arrow to show the right-side up

Example 1:
A Windy Day
Jack Hill - 1 star

Example 2:
Elephants - Wildlife
Mary Lamb - 3 star

Note! - On Club Night:

Write the matching sequence number from the score sheet next to the title - this will assist the print co-ordinator to keep all the prints in order when displaying to the judges.

Example 3:
No.5 Elephants - Wildlife
Mary Lamb - 3 star

Note:
If in doubt, please ask for assistance or advice on mounting.
Please write clearly on slides, prints AND score sheets.
