On a Typical Club Night
- The speaker who is one of the invited judges would be asked to give a talk, or a slide presentation, on a specific photographic subject before the judging commences.
- Three judges are used, a combination of visiting and club judges. Judges mostly comment on the good points of the image, and on ways to improve the authors technique.
- The first part of the evening is the "Set Subject" competition, where members enter slides and/or prints on a pre-specified subject. The subject might be a photographic technique (e.g. night photography), or a particular theme (e.g. a song title), those members who have entered images in this section, are awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
- This is followed by the judging of prints or slides, for advancement according to the members star ratings.
- Those slides and prints with the highest scores are entered into the "Slide of the Month" or "Print of the Month" competition, the judges choose the best slide and print from the Primary and Senior sections. These images gain an additional point which is accumulated towards Photographer of the Year (P.O.T.Y).
- Time is set aside for tea and discussions with fellow members.
Please Note!
- Print and slide titles must be legibly.
- Do not submit similar slides or prints or e-photography at the same meeting.
- A slide, print or e-photography image can only be used once for advancement, and once for set subject.
