The speaker who is one of the invited judges would be asked to give a talk, a digital or slide presentation, on a specific photographic subject before the judging commences.
Three judges are used, a combination of visiting and club judges. Judges mostly comment on the good points of the image, and on ways to improve the authors technique.
The first part of the evening is the "Set Subject" competition, where members enter digital slides and/or prints on a pre-specified subject. The subject might be a photographic technique (e.g. night photography), or a particular theme (e.g. a song title), those members who have entered images in this section, are awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
This is followed by the judging of digital, prints and slides, for advancement according to the members star ratings.
Those images with the highest scores are entered into the "Image of the Month" or "Print of the Month" competition, the judges choose the best image from the Primary and Senior sections. These images gain an additional point which is accumulated towards Photographer of the Year (P.O.T.Y).
Time is set aside for tea and discussions with fellow members.
Please Note!
Print and slide titles must be legibly.
Do not submit similar digital, slide or print images at the same meeting.
A digital, slide or print image can only be used once for advancement, and once for set-subject.
